BIND – Nishant Shukla

Created in 2015, BIND is a platform for photography in South Asia, with a specific interest in the photobook. Its mandate is to promote the visibility and access of contemporary photobooks in the region, while encouraging the growth of book-making and publishing practices within the realm of photography. In addition to our personal collections, these books have been generously donated by authors, publishers and institutions that believe in our commitment to share them with a wide audience while fostering discussions around the photobook as a specific form of expression. Currently hosted at Trilogy in Mumbai, the BIND Library is now open to the public for reference. Initially, BIND organised pop-up libraries in photo festivals across the region. Conceived as an appendix to the BIND Library, the BINDbox periodically proposes a curated selection of photobooks. Nishant Shukla from BIND will present his projects on 1 June 5pm, documenta-Halle Kassel.
