World in Transition

Welt im Umbruch/World in Transition is a mobile open-air exhibition and inclusive arts programme that takes the photobook to the people. Featuring 22 photobooks by international photographers like Carlos Spottorno, Carolyn Drake, Mark Power and Ad van Denderen it looks at various aspects of global change: migration, digitisation, economic and political transformations and the like. Offering free photobook workshops, house calls, dummy datings and sofa talks in the project’s outdoor Café Courage to everyone its programme explores new educational formats for diverse audiences. The mobile exhibition is a cooperation between the Montag Stiftung Kunst und Gesellschaft (Bonn) and The PhotoBookMuseum (Cologne). In 2016, it has been launched in Rostock, toured to Duisburg in 2017 and between the 26th of May and the 10th of June 2018 it is based just outside documenta-Halle during the 10th anniversary of the FOTOBOOKFESTIVAL Kassel.
